DL lined up offsides

I might be wrong but the DL appears to be lined up offsides. They completely wreck the play, which was fourth and inches. No penalty called. What gives?

The rendering of the 4.5 release for the bump and run game presnap alignments is rough. Those a linebackers or safeties in bump . If you look at it real close the game chooses a center point of the player as a marker. Some where near the front shoulder pads is where their virtual feet would line up. Making neither team offside. Even though to me the offense looked more offside, but it doesn’t look good either way

To scale the shoulder pads and helmet is double the size of real life. It’s almost the size of a real players wing span. A lot imagination needed here to make this play plausible , but it is semi explainable under our current code

I've seen it quite often when the DL is lined up, like, right on top of the center. I just chalk it up to a rendering issue when a penalty isn't called.

I get excited when I see it with my team on defense and the play call is a run. I fully expect it to get mashed. lol

My mind leaps ahead to the next play. :)

MFN is not a video game. What you are seeing is simply a visual representation of a text result.

I am fully aware of that. It just seemed too coincidental that those two defensive players were the first to get in the backfield and make the tackle. I don't buy the bump and run excuse as they should go out in coverage in that case. On both plays this happened they ran straight for the RB for -3 yards. It didn't change the game, but did waste the play and when I saw it I said, what the spank is that formation! That's a sack or tfl every time!

Yeah, that part is rough under our current code. That play has the SLB and MLB cover the #4 and #5 recievers on that play which is the RB and FB. Here bump and run coverage is signified by lining up very close to the line of scrimage and both those players are head up vs. Those backs. That's why I called it a bump and run . It's the presnap alignments giving the defense an edge.

If you call a play where those LBers are in zone their presnap alignments will be further away from the line of scrimage and backs , and what is worse even with a run key applied those LBers in zone will still run away the line of scrimage to cover before reacting to the run vs. that same play . When they are in man they react quicker to the run, but it's the pre snap alignments of man giving that extra advantage .

Version 4.5 really favors man under defensive calls in comparison to heavy zone. This is how it is for now, but definitely not for ever .
