The Pittsburgh Panthers took cornerback Hassan Rodgers in the 1st round of the draft today. He is currently regarded as the best corner in the AFL, and the Panthers will be looking for him to shut down opposing receivers this season. According to head coach Andrew Reid, Rodgers is the first step in building a strong defense and the team likes the idea of Rodgers anchoring their "no fly zone."

For now maybe. However he may not even have 4 years in him before he retires.

This is the best long term corner in the league.

That is true. However, it will probably be 3-4 years before Gene Knapp will reach his potential and be as good as Rodgers, and by then he'll only be 1-2 years younger than Rodgers is now. Plus, his future value is not set in stone... But, on the positive side, he will also have value as he improves before he reaches his potential.

I respect your pick, Knapp will probably be a very good corner for years to come. And, I'm new to the game so I still have a lot to learn about how it progresses... I wouldn't be taking advice from me, that's for sure!

It isn't going to take him four years. He could be in the low 90's possibly towards the end of next season assuming he isn't a bust. (knocks on wood)
