1961 Training Camp

I had resolved to play it safe this time, but of course, everybody else was doing the same thing! So I went as hard as I could the other way, perhaps with predictable results.

1.9 RB Paul Burnside Vol: 90 +8/-9 Now 49/73

The need is so bad that he'll still play. Perhaps the only thing for me is to keep taking potshots in the hope that I'll hit the jackpot some day.

2.20 CB Matthew Fields Vol: 90 +5/-14 Now 40/61

This was extra cruel. He wasn't even that fast! Now I'm stuck paying him!

3.13 LT Chad Reyes Vol: 50 +10/+3 Now 55/77

Will be a starter sooner rather that later. I would have much rather been more successful in other areas, but oh well. Given my misadventures at RB, perhaps I'll need a good blocker!

4.16 WR Robert Francis Vol: 62 +12/+5 Now 58/75

If only he could be fast!

5.15 FB Jerald Osborne Vol: 100 +0/-8 Now 38/57

At least I'm not paying him a bonus.

7.13 TE Gary Marlborough Vol: 46 +2/-2 Now 25/47

I might someday move him to center, but it's more likely I will just cut my losses. As long as I need a long snapper, he's the guy, but I'd like to get out from under him (pun absolutely intended) as soon as possible.

Any attempt I make to get faster is met with a swift and emphatic slapdown. I just have to make peace with being slow for now, and hope for the new version, in which speed doesn't matter so much.

I'm usually in the same boat. By the time my picks come up, there's no decent low vol players, but very interesting high vol ones.
I try to at least stick with guys with good speed, due to the importance of that stat, and the fact that it's not a value that changes (at least not until they get old? (Not sure)).
