8/14/2018 - The Commissioners' office today confirmed that wieczoreks' bid to take ownership of the Texas Terror was approved. When asked for additional comment a source within the commissioners' office said, "We're excited to finally have an owner for the Terror. wieczoreks is a relatively new owner but has already done umm... ok in some other leagues. At the very least he can't be any worse than JDBsystems' automated management solution that has been running the team recently." At his first press conference wieczoreks had this to say about the franchise: "I'm not going to sugarcoat it. It's going to be a tough challenge to undo the damage that's been done and build a winning franchise. The team has a solid coaching staff and a few All-Pro players. Unfortunately the previous management solution provided no cohesive strategy and painted the franchise into a tight financial corner."

wieczoreks only has a 46-man roster and $67k worth of cap space to work with to turn around a franchise with a 24-57 record. We wish him the best of luck!

Transformation underway for Terror

8/17/2018 - In an unprecedented move Owner and General Manager wieczoreks hosted a 1-day closed mini-camp with the promise of a long-term league minimum contract for any player who could out-perform the teams’ current backups. The entire scouting department was on hand along with the coaching staff to help with the assessment process. A total of 30 players came in for the mini-camp and by the end of the day all but two of them were given 6-yr minimum salary deals. As a result of recent poor cap-management practices there were already 8 openings on the 53-man roster. To make room for the rest of the walk-ons, 15 backups and 5 starters were released by the team. Our researchers could find no other team in any sport that has ever turned over this much of its roster in such a short time. GM wieczoreks commenting on the change said, "I am fully committed to changing the culture here in Texas. The front office and the coaching staff got together and all agreed we needed to send a strong message and make some tough decisions to turn this thing around. We had to eat an additional $16 million in dead cap this year to rid ourselves of players who just weren't contributing to winning, but we are now also $11 million under the cap and in the position to consider a few strategic free agent signings or trades if they make sense. It will take some time for all the new pieces to get acclimated, but I have all the confidence in the coaching staff to complete the work the front office has now begun."

8/29/2018 - The Terror beat the Rattlers for their 3rd win in a row, which ties the franchise record win-streak. This also put the team a 2nd game over .500, a milestone that, until this season, had never been achieved in the franchise's history. After the win Coach Smith had this to say about new owner, wieczoreks, and the team's progress: "He's been great to work with so far. Together we laid out a cohesive strategy for moving forward and he brought in the additional pieces we needed to execute. We just need to keep putting in the work every day and things will continue to improve."
The Terror's next game will be a tough match-up against divisional rival, Baton Rouge.
