Re: Tiebreaker?

Sim is suggesting that the 5 and 6 seeds are going to New Orleans Voodoo and ourselves (California Red Woods).

https://afl.myfootballnow.com/

I'm not sure why Las Vegas Locos are considered eliminated as they are a game behind us and we haven't played each other. IF we lose and they win, we'll have the same Conference record.

Does anyone have a list of tiebreak scenarios eg

1. Win/Loss/Tie record
2. Head to head
3. Conference record
4. ?
5. ?
6. ?
etc

It is important as it will effect how I set up my team for a tough week 16 match.

Also, the standings page shows an x- by ourselves (ie: qualified) an e- for the Locos (ie: eliminated) but no designation for the Voodoo (who have beaten ourselves but lost to the Locos). So with a win, New Orleans finish #5, if they lose and we win/tie and Las Vegas win then I think they finish #7, Locos #6 and us #5
If New Orleans and ourselves lose and the Locos win - who knows?

https://afl.myfootballnow.com/team/4

We take #5 if we get a better result than New Orleans ie we win and they either lose or tie. Or we tie and they lose.

https://afl.myfootballnow.com/team/11

The Locos can catch us, but only if they win and we lose and New Orleans win - Leaving Voodoo #5 and either us or Las Vegas at #6. ie both finish 11-5, no head to head, conference record is 8-4 for both teams....

I tried to find the answer a few months back, and while MFN generally follows NFL tiebreakers, it's not exact.

I'm just guessing so please don't get mad if I'm wrong. I believe in a 3 way tie, net points will be the tiebreaker used. In a 3 way tie, you first eliminate all but 1 team from each division, which is already done in this case.

Head to head only applies if one team swept or was swept by the other two teams, which is not the case here.

Conference record would be 8-4 for all 3 teams in the event they're all 11-5.

Common opponents should be next but there is only 1 common opponent and I believe the minimum is 3. The team all 3 played is Portland.

Next up is net points I believe, eliminating Las Vegas unless California loses by like 100 points.

But it is still possible for

A Voodoo 12-4 Red Woods 11-5 Locos 11-5 - I don't know who qualifies in this scenario
B Red Woods 12-4 Voodoo 11-5 Locos 11-5 - CRW #5, LVL #6 as they own the head2head
C All three on 11-5 - I don't know who qualifies in this scenario
D Voodoo and Red Woods both on 12-4, Locos on 11-5 or 10-6 - NOV #5 CRW #6 based on H2H record
E Voodoo and Red Woods both on 11-5, Locos on 10-6 - NOV #5 CRW #6 based on H2H record

I explained scenario C in my previous post.

Scenario A is basically the same as C, except common opponents can be used. California and Vegas did not play and if both are 11-5, the conference records will also be tied. They have four common opponents: New Orleans, Portland, Dallas and Oakland.

In order to get both at 11-5, Dallas beats California week 16 while Vegas beats Oakland, giving both a 2-3 record vs common opponents so it's on to net points I think. Never got a clear answer on that.

I've private messaged JDB for some clarity.

I've also pm'd the other two 'owners' with links to the threads in case either both 'mail' in the season only to find out they missed out.

Good luck tomorrow night, last year my Triangles missed the playoffs with a 12-4 record so I feel someone's pain.

Well, the Locos lost, so it's a moot point. Kind of a shame because I'd rather see them than you.

Hmm, not sure how I should take that?
